1) The famous North Sea Jazz Festival (at Rotterdam since this year) on 14, 15, 16 July 2006:

We did a trip of a few days in Holland to go and see what's going on at the North Sea Jazz Festival with Wonder B in 2002...

Too much good memories... Like Oleta Adams (amazing sensations...), Dawn Silva & Seven Eleven (so Funky), Angie Stone, Chaka Khan, Lalah Hathaway in the Marcus Miller Set.... always great (and sometimes rare) artists... If I would have the chance to come back I'll go

I don't think anybody will see Seven Eleven in a while now... since Dice is behind bars...

And I don't think lesser known bands such as Octavepussy are notorious enough yet to play such big festivals... or perhaps the off festival concerts (like Beverley Knight in Amsterdam or Dawn Silva who tested her own sow a couple of days before the real big event at the NSJF)

SOUL & FUNK

North Sea Jazz 2006 is bound to be a party for soul & funk lovers. For the first time in eleven years Jason Kay 's Jamiroquai can be heard at the festival again. Last year's release ‘Dynamite' proved that Jay Kay still ranks among the very best in the business. By inviting Tower of Power, North Sea ensures another sensational live act. In the tracks of Solomon Burke, cult soul diva Bettye Lavett made a strong come-back . In her performance neo-soul star Leela James will establish that she didn't only draw inspiration from Lavett's generation, but also from modern R&B and hip hop artists like Kanye West (who also performs at the festival) and Wyclef Jean. The Brazilian singer CéU made a big impression during her short Dutch tour earlier this year and after nine years Jhelisa made a come-back with the impressive album ‘A primitive Guide to Being There'. Further more North Sea Jazz has invited several leading contemporary soul vocalists to perform ‘bare naked', that is, in a small, acoustic setting. Singers like the Americans Raul Midón, Bilal, Donnie and Anthony David , the Dutch Caprice and the British Omar will shed a different light on their soulful art. The Rotterdam party organization Jazzsole will present a club night with a.o. Soil & Pimp, offering a mix of soul, breakbeats and hot jazz.
