Wow. Sorry to answer that late, Soul files this is unbelievable.
Funkhomers, this is not a buzz, it is an alert. Today is the release of a Funk Bomb.
Just have a minute on this.
Then you'll know you have a missile coming right on your face, cause this is just huge.
It is not having Bootsy or Maurice White on this video. It's all about what you hear on it...
Damn, I've never heard of this guy before...

I have duplicated the discussion in the French section, and several copies are on their way to France.
So good to have such music nowadays.
Great info Soul Files, thank you very much; I hope this work will sell a lot of copies, for this time it is not a pale attempt to call funk present productions, this is it!
Well, I think the former albums are more jazzy, but if you can list your BC's favorites ones, I'd be glad to buy others...
I know there is that Serpentine's Fire cover that made Maurice recognize Brian's work, well if you have some advises, feel free!

You're right that the former albums are more a jazzy style ,
aldo you can find some funky tunes on them.
In my opinion Brian is between FUSION and SMOOTHJAZZ ,
but that's up to me.
But in his heart he is very funky , it only has to come out!!!!!
Albums where you can find some funky tracks on are ;
Come on up (2003) track midnight with Marcus Miller)
Secrets (1997)
Something about love (1999)

I've received lately my copy, and have to say that sound is spectacular.
Funkin like my father is a funk hit in 2008. Which is unbelievable. Dunno why they did not took it for single release...
To my opinion, which is not that hard because I enjoy playing the Cd, the piano is too present in most of the tracks, and I regret that Brian did not went electric or took the trombone instead.
It gives a colder sound, and jazzifies the heavy groove delivered by that incredible horn section.
Even though the rythmic section is very efficient, I do not hear my favourite guitarist in his style: Ray Parker Jr is so much more than a sideman.
Same for Bernie Worell, the production drawns his sound.
This incredible talent's gathering should give much room to its individualities, and I hope a second opus of this crazy project will go in that direction.

Yeah what can i say!
Most of all i totally agree , with your meaning , but it's very personal!
I think you have to put up all your meanings in perspectif on time!
The world has changed music wise.
So i am glad Brian took the challenge in putting the FUNK back
to a new audience without forgettin' who started it.
And then now it's #1 on the USA charts ;
