CAMEO Section !

Messagepar sooulseb » 13/10/04 09:43

Hey funkateers, just a thought...
 Now that Tomi is registered, could we maybe get a special cameo section within the 'english corner' ?
It'll be great if we could have such a place dedicated to chat, news, etc...at least before the cameo nation website is up and running. This could also attract international cameo fans (i already started to forward the link to some friends).
This way Tomi could also answer all the questions at the same time and give us some insights of the life of cameo !
Alriiight I'm starting : Is Larry really sleeping with his codpiece ??? :???:
Naaah just kiddin' but there are so many things i would like to find out about the band members etc...and I'm sure some other freaks (and by freak yes i mean Elvis  looooool) will want to ask plenty of questions too. Seriously we could start i dont know...our own 'Live by request section' ! and tell Tomi which songs we would like them to play next time they play in Europe !!! (yes I'm still hoping despite Bibi's bad news)...
Okay I shut my face for now, c'mon let's fire this section up !

Yes well... Good Idea

As Tomi knows it now (I told him when we meet in Switzerland) I'm working since 2 years now to create a complete biography about the group and all the members collaborations... with the help of Cameosis-Elvis...

The goal is to have a website totally dedicated to this amazing group... One of the Funk bands everybody is agree to say they are the Best !!!

I have choosen the name but it's a question of time and disponibility of people I need to help me to launch that website (we will start by a French version and after, I hope we could translate it in english... But of course I'm sure you'll understand it's a lot of work to do to have it...and so It can't be immediate...)
I have for the moment too much to do with the creation of this forum...

Anyway, this English Section exists to be able to speak with foreign people and you can usr this threat for the moment to talk with Tomi and ask him the question we have...
The great thing is that way everybody can read and speak with each other...

So come on, be free to send your questions here and post your comments...

Last, Yes WB I love the MCB album too... It would be great one day to have a Cameo concert with some tracks of members collaborations over the years... Tomi don't you want to play "Closer to you" in concert for me  (it's the track on your album I prefer  )

Sh**t i was hoping this tread to be on fire by now, where the hell are the cameo fans ?????? lol
Anyway...to go back to the request list of songs for the next gig, I must admit i was a bit disapointed not to hear 'skin I'm in' last time cameo performed in Bern. Hope you'll include that one back soon ! This song is simply awesome !
I also would like to hear more songs from 'Knights of the sound Table' too, such as Knights by knights and I like it ! And from the 'Feel me' album, one of my favorite remains 'Is this the way'...

Tomi could you get others members to post here by any chance ? What about Charlie and the rest ? I sooo would like to hear anecdotes from everybody !

Ken told me you have finally decided to forward your solo project to Blaise, GOOD ! Hope this one will be release soon ! Tell us more about it ! How many songs ? Who stars in it ? etc etc....

And Ken, to answer your question, the mysterious Blaise is actually WONDER B or Bibi or Grand Dad lol. Basically he is the french living encyclopaedia of Black Music i told you about !
But enough of this he is not (quite) senile yet loooooooool and can introduce himself !

Hope to hear from you all soon,
Peace !

Although I am a teeny weeny bit older than the rest of the muggs here I can still hold my own! LOL

Still I fell in that funk way back when it started out in the late 60's, so yes I am considered by those snotty nosed punks as an old fart LOOOOL
Hopefully they still DO respect knowledge and that's why I haven't yet seen any name calling LOL

Cameo is one of my all-time favorite bands. So, many great songs and talented musicians. I feel blessed that I was able to see Rick James and Cameo on a double bill back in the early 1980s at the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford. Connecticut. What a show!!! Funk and Roll Baby.

No disrespect to Larry. Love the brotha. But I was listening to an interview with Larry Blackmon and the interview referred to the band as Larry Blackmon and Cameo. Is this an official title? I still refer to Cameo as Cameo as Cameo and the The Time as the Time.

Can't wait for Corinne to have the Cameo site rolling. But thanks for the Funk Home.

Yes Joe I know what you mean  In May when we saw together The Time at the US tv for the promotion of the new Cd, the group was announced as Morris Day... But it was The Time  :???:
In July when we saw Cameo, they were announced as Cameo
It's strange after to only refer to Larry meanwhile he's a big part of the group's sound... But we love Cameo as a whole group

I have respect for Morris too but I love The Time most

Hey all!

Messagepar TomiJ » 31/12/04 21:47

What's happening, Cameo fans! Sorry I haven't visited this wonderful sight in a while. It's great to see all the comments about past and present members. Something you may or may not know, Aaron Mills and Kevin Kendricks were on the latest Outkast CD. And Aaron played bass on "Mrs. Jackson". The horns you hear on "I Like The Way You Move" are the same horns we use occasionally on tour. As far as our website is concerned, our host has been MIA, so we're gonna do something else in early '05. Cameo will be going in the studio in January to start new tracks. And I have a solo record finished and at a few US labels. I sent a copy to Wonder B to get his feel on it. He likes it. It's got funky, Cameo style joints on it, as well as my own personal thing. It's ALL me, really. Jesse Johnson, my friend and former housemate, played on and produced three tracks. Funkygirl, see if you can get a copy. I'd love to know what you think. It would be cool if you Cameo fans will talk with me through FUNKHOME while our official site is being redesigned.
In the meantime, thanks again to all of you still suffering with Cameosis. You MUST be sick! Sick with the FUNK.

God bless and HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

Great to hear from you Tomi
Yes the CD has some great tracks and I hope we can help you further in the New Year. Still trying to meet the right people. I'll get back to you when that happens. Up until now we have raised some interest but the people we were able to talk to do not have the power of decision... so we are following the hierarchy! LOL
Have a great year 2005!

Hmmm, a new Tomi Jenkins record. That would be outstanding and we would love to play this on our radio show when you are ready to drop it.

We recently had Jesse Johnson's cousin, Andre Hines of Rio Soul, on our TV show.

In various magazine-interviews around 1988/1989 Larry spoke about plans for making a theatre-movie titled : "A Tacky Guy" , which was gonna be a sort of modern "West Side Story", to be filmed in Miami .... has anything been magnetised on tape , and in which stage was the process ? ( casting/script/storyboards/soundtrack)
